Globetrotters was fun, Paisley gets in the game

Last night we did something pretty fun. We sat courtside for the Harlem Globetrotters at Verizon Arena in North Little Rock. And when I say courtside, I mean front row. They were absolutely incredible seats.

I know what you're thinking. Jeff, you are some kind of high roller. Those tickets cost more than $100 a piece to sit there. You're both right and wrong. The tickets did indeed cost more than $100. But we didn't pay. Here's how it went down.

My wife is on her last week of maternity leave. So she's at home taking care of the baby and she's watching KATV Channel 7. They announce a contest where the 7th e-mailer can win Harlem Globetrotters tickets. If I'm around and see this, I likely don't email (or call or text or whatever they want you to do). But my wife is different. She's always trying to win something (and frequently does). She fired off four quick emails and won.

It wasn't just tickets. We also got an autographed Harlem Globetrotters basketball and a meet and greet with one of the players.

We arrived at 6 and checked in for our meet and greet. Then we were taken backstage where we met with the player and had photos taken. Then we headed out to our seats. The baby was hungry so we fed her while the pregame activities were taking place. Of course, my kids needed official Harlem Globetrotters headbands, so we got those as well.

The seats were amazing. And the action was taking place just a few feet right in front of us. Maddie really loved it. Anna Kate thought it was funny. I held Paisley and she also seemed to like it.

Before the game, I jokingly asked my wife what she would do if one of the Globetrotters took Paisley out on the court. My wife said she was OK with it. My mom didn't think that was such a good idea. Then it happened.

The Globetrotters were called for a two-shot foul. And the referee declared, "Two Shots." Globetrotter Big Easy kept saying two shots to the crowd until the ref came back over and told him that everyone in this arena knows it's two shots. Then Big Easy walked over, picked up Paisley out of my arms and carried her out onto the court.

"Everyone? How about this baby?," he asked. It was pretty funny. Then Big Easy brought her back to me and they went back to playing. That was pretty cool.

I would have never spent that much for those tickets. But it really was worth it to be that close. Great night thanks to the Globetrotters, KATV and my fast emailing wife.
