It's hard to believe we've reached 32 weeks with Paisley. More importantly, we're less than eight weeks from her being here.
It's hard to imagine what it's going to be like. Occasionally I wake up in the middle of the night. I'm exhausted. How in the heck am I going to be able to get up with the baby? This is where being 42 becomes an issue. I'm definitely going to have to go to bed earlier.
Thirteen years ago when Maddie was born, life was different. I was working at the newspaper, mostly nights. I would get home from work between 12 and 1 a.m. most nights and didn't have to go back in until late afternoon the next day. I could stay up all night with no problems. So my wife would sleep and I'd get up with Maddie.
I was also only in my late 20s.
But now I have a job where I have to be in at 8 a.m. And I'm old. Getting up half the night is going to be tough.
But it will also be fun. I really got a chance to bond with Maddie during those late nights. Hopefully I can do the same with Paisley.
And one thing is definitely better now. DVR. Thank goodness for DVR.
