World Series goes bad but running goes awesome

I haven't posted here for more than a week. I've just been so busy I haven't had a chance. I'll try and recap.

I wasn't able to get in any running last weekend due to a couple of things. First, we had a baby shower with more than 30 people at our house on Sunday. The preparation for that meant we had tons of things to get done at the house. It turned out great and went off without a hitch.

Plus, it was difficult to get motivated to run at night due to the World Series. I know. No excuses.

But Wednesday night it all came back together.

No, not the World Series. The Cards went down 6-0 early and it was clear it likely wasn't going to be our year. I was frustrated and decided to use that frustration to get back to running.

This was Couch 2 5K Week 5, Day 2 and it required me to walk 5 minutes, run 8 minutes, walk 5 minutes, run 8 minutes and walk 5 minutes. Since I hadn't run for more than a week, I wasn't sure that I could do it. And I didn't feel great when I got out of the car and started walking.

Then something happened. And it happened right when the chime went off telling me to start running. I felt great. And I felt great for all eight minutes. I think I could have actually run a couple of more minutes. I walked the five and started running again. This time it got a little more difficult around the seventh minute. But I made it. Whew!!!!!

I'm pretty proud of myself and a little scared. I'm scared because the next day of the program calls for me to run for 20 consecutive minutes. Yikes!

No time to worry about it. Three weeks from Saturday I'll be running my first 5K.
