I am so glad my wife is home.
Last night was a little bit scary, especially when I had to leave her at the hospital overnight.
I'm happy to report that everything seems to be much, much better today.
Here's what happened. My wife hadn't been feeling so hot lately. I just figured she'd been doing too much and not getting nearly enough sleep. She has been working, doing stuff for her toy drive and all of our regular stuff with our girls. She went home early from work Thursday and didn't feel so well that night. She stayed home on Friday and still wasn't feeling any better.
She called the doctor's office and they suggested she go in to Labor and Delivery and get checked out. I agreed that was a good idea. That's how we ended up there last night.
When we arrived, she had a 102.7 temperature. And baby Paisley's pulse was around 188 beats per minute. For reference, it's normally between 135 and 155 on all of our doctor visits.
They gave her some Tylenol and then did the swab to test for flu. If you have any doubts about whether or not you should get a flu shot, you should ask her opinion after getting that swab up the nose. It's quite painful. And, yes, she had the flu.
They gave her Tamaflu and wanted to observe her for a while. Her temperature went down and Paisley's pulse did as well. We thought we might get to go home, but the doctor wanted to keep observing her overnight. So, we had to leave her.
After Maddie's basketball games this morning, we went back to the hospital and they discharged her. She's still very tired but at least she's home. And the baby seems to be kicking more than ever before. I think everyone is starting to get back to normal.
Thank God.
