Today was my 13-year-old daughter's first school basketball game. She plays on the 7th grade team at Malvern.
Her team won the B game 29-2 and then lost the A game 15-13 in overtime. (Side note: It's the first time I've ever seen a basketball game decided by sudden death).
I thought she played good defense and gave a really good effort. I was very proud of her.
One thing I'd like to see is for officials to protect the dribbler, much like they are attempting to do in college basketball this year. It seems like the dribble has to overcome being physically assaulted just to get the ball down the court. That's part of the reason the teams combined to score only 28 points in 24-plus minutes of basketball.
Still, it was really fun to watch her play.
