1.7 is good news, bad news this week

This was kind of a good news-bad news week.

Here's the bad news: I lost 1.7 pounds this week.

Here's the good news: I lost 1.7 pounds this week.

The definite plus is that for the second consecutive week, I lost that pound-a-week that is part of my New Year's Resolution. At the end of the year, that would add up to 52 pounds and would make a definite impact on my life.

But when you lose 7.5 pounds the previous week, it tends to play tricks on your mind. You start thinking about losing unrealistic amounts like 28 per month and 364 for the year. It's just not possible.

That's the reason I chose a pound a week. If I stick to that I won't be too disappointed when I lose 1.7. And I'll still be way ahead of my goal.

So adding this week's 2.7 to last week's 7.5 puts me at 10.2 for the six-week challenge at work. I lost 22 for the six weeks last time and I still feel like that's a definite possibility with four weeks remaining. The biggest reason I think that is that last time around the second week was my worst. I remember losing less than a pound and being really frustrated. In fact, it's what led me to join the exercise class at work.

So 1.7 this week is awesome. Hopefully it will be a little more next week.
