Good night makes me want to get out of car

Last night was one of my best as a parent in quite a while.

Typically when I get home, my kids are screaming and buzzing around and my wife hands me the baby while she attempt to make some sense out of dinner. It's the reason I typically pull into the garage and just sit there for a couple of minutes before going in.

Last night was different. And it was awesome.

When I walked in, everyone was quiet and the baby was laying on the bed playing with its gym. I laid down next to Paisley and started talking to her. She smiled. And she kept smiling for about an hour. She was giving us high fives and fist bumps. And she was trying to talk to us. And we all laughed so hard at the faces she was making.

With the exception of Anna Kate punching Maddie in the head, the kids were getting along. We weren't really getting anything done, but we just had fun talking to the baby. And it was awesome.

Later I fed and held the baby. She was awake in my arms, just looking and making faces while smiling a lot.

Tonight I'll probably get out of the car just a little quicker.
