Microwave and metal whisk not a great combination

My wife tells me she did something really dumb. What? She put a metal whisk in the microwave. And she nearly burned the whole place down.

Yeah, that's bad. Except I did the exact same thing the day before. Apparently I somehow escaped the near fire. But it never really crossed my mind that you couldn't put that in there. I guess I did something dumb too.

Sleep deprivation. That's the only excuse I can give. It seems like you're making clear, rational decisions. But everything's really a bit foggy.

In reality, there was no harm done. The microwave still works fine. We lost one of our bottles, which was next to the whisk (they are actually now permanently attached to each other). Of course, the whisk is also done.

And we learned a valuable lesson. It's  a lesson my mom taught me when we got our first microwave when I was a kid. You can't put metal in there.
