I'm really going to miss the time I've been able to spend at home with my wife and girls. I can see why it is so important for fathers to be around as much as possible in the early days of a child's life. And it's really been a lot of fun.
And I was able to get some other stuff done this week. I worked one day and was able to work out three days. I also got the weigh in done for the weight loss challenge. I'll also use that weight to try and monitor my New Year's resolution. I also started back on the diet. And I'm hungry. But it's cool.
One of the hardest things about going on a diet for me is grocery shopping. I went to Walmart this morning to pick up some things for my wife. And it seems like everywhere I turn there is something I can't eat. That sucks.
The reality is that I can eat it. I can eat anything I want. But My Fitness Pal's app is the great equalizer. If I eat it, I have to write it down. And if I write it down, it counts up my totals for the day. The best part about it though is how easy it is to use. Most foods are scan-able. Others are easily searchable.
I've also found one other diet tip to keep me from grazing in the fridge: The baby. When you're holding the baby, it's difficult to get up and go look for a snack. I fought off some hunger last night just by rocking the baby for a while. And that's more fun anyway.
I'm back to work on Monday so I'm going to cherish the moments I have left. Even if I'm a little hungry while doing it.
